One of the original Pointer Sisters and a well-known American singer-songwriter, Anita Pointer, has passed away. On New Year’s Eve in Los Angeles, the 74-year-old singer for The Pointer Sisters during their heyday in the 1970s and 1980s parted ways.

Fritz Pointer, Ruth Pointer, June Pointer, Bonnie Pointer, and Aaron Pointer were among Anita Pointer’s siblings. Bonnie Pointer and June Pointer formed the group known as The Pointer Sisters in 1969. The group forma eventually included Anita Pointer. Sister Ruth changed the group from a trio to a quartet in 1972, just before they reached their commercial zenith. Over the course of their career, The Pointer Sisters received three Grammy Awards.
